PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
Colorado Real Estate Broker since 1986.
In 1992 four of my associates and I acquired ownership of Telluride Real Estate Corporation (TREC) and built it into one of the premier brokerage firms in Colorado. In 2006 The Telluride Association of
Realtors awarded me their Life Time Achievement Award in recognition of my excellence in real estate and community service.
REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT
IN 1986 I developed the first condominiums, Telemark, in Mountain Village and recorded the first sales to new resort home owners. Later in another phase of Telemark I built the first parking garage in Mountain Village.
Prior to moving to Telluride I lived in Grand Junction Colorado where I was involved in developing 2 bank buildings, a 50,000 sq. ft. office building and a residential subdivision.
In 2000 I developed a residential subdivision in Cave Creek, Arizona adjacent to the Rancho Manana Golf Course and our second home. The combination of alpine San Juan Mountains of Telluride and the high Sonoran Desert in Cave Creek provide a fantastic life style. The best part is it is all in a days drive.
BANKING
After graduation from college I spent 22 years in commercial banking. Starting with a large bank in Los Angeles, I later returned to Grand Junction, CO where I was in small business, real estate development and construction lending. After elevating to President & CEO of an independent bank, I left banking to pursue opportunities in Telluride.
In Telluride I formed a new ownership group that acquired the Bank of Telluride from a Denver bank. In the process I determined resort real estate sales were more fun and rewarding than banking so I became associated with Telluride Real Estate Corporation.
EDUCATION
Graduated from The University of Denver, BSBA majoring in Finance and Marketing.
Graduate of the University of Colorado Graduate School of Banking.
CIVIC ACTIVITIES
Past Board Member, Rocky Mountain Health Care, Inc., Blue Cross & Blue Shield in Colorado, New Mexico and Nevada; 11 years. Past Board Member and Officer, Mountain Village Property Owners Association; 20 years. Past Board Member and Treasurer of the Mountain Village Metropolitan District, 20 years. Co-Chairmen of the Committee to form the town government for the Town of Mountain Village where I was elected to Town Council, 8 years (the maximum term) and was also Vice-Mayor and later Mayor.
FAMILY
Married to Shari with whom we raised to children and have 2 grandchildren.
TELLURIDE REAL ESTATE CORPORATION (TREC)
Founded in 1981 by The Telluride Ski Company, TREC’s original focus was on transforming the old mining Town of Telluride into a world class ski resort. The secondary focus was marketing the proposed 2,000 acre planned unit development, Telluride Mountain Village. TREC along with numerous investors, entrepreneurs and new home owners achieved their goals as Telluride and Mountain Village are now one of the premier Mountain resort communities in the world. In 1992 the ski company sold TREC to 5 of the companies associated brokers including me. Today TREC continues to be employee owned with 3 offices and 34 associated brokers.
